Objectifs

My main research interest is to study adaptation using population genetics and functional approaches, to understand the roles of selection and demographic processes in promoting or preventing morphological and physiological diversification and adaptation to new environments.

My current work focus on Plasmopara viticola, an oomycete responsible for downy mildew in grapevine. Downy mildew is one of the most damaging grapevine disease, and new cultivars with partial resistances have been bred to resolve this issue. Partial resistances do not prevent infections, but limit the development, growth and reproduction of pathogens. Recently, evidence of the erosion of partial resistances resulting from an increase of virulence of P. viticola has been shown. I'm studying the genetic basis of the adaptation of P. viticola to partial resistances, using a population genomics approach on strains sampled on susceptible and partially resistant grapevines.
