Sabbatical stay of the Pr Mariano Ruiz-Gayo (University of San Pablo in Madrid) in Nutrineuro lab (Invited by IDEX, G. Ferreira)

Mariano Ruiz-Gayo obtained a degree in Pharmacy and then a PhD in Chemistry (University of Barcelona). He is currently Professor of Pharmacology at San Pablo University, in Madrid. He started working in the field of Neuroscience in the laboratory of Prof. Bernard P Roques at René Descartes University (INSERM) in 1989, then at University Complutense (Madrid). His research has been devoted to the field of the pharmacology of neuropeptides, with particular attention to cholecystokinin (CCK). He has focused on the effects of CCK on feeding behaviour as well as on the interaction between CCK and leptin, both at central and peripheral levels. More recently he has investigated the role of leptin in memory impairment triggered by high-fat diets. In this context Mariano is hosted as visiting Professor by the NutriNeuro Lab of the INRA (UMR 1286), funded by the IdEx Bordeaux.
