Centripetal and Centrifugal Neurosciences

This diagram makes the link between networks (straight lines), neurons (coloured circles), functions (squares) and behaviours (chip board). Each colour represents one type of network, which is interconnected to specific neurons and functions. Neuronal network assembly then outputs a matrix of complex behaviours. The diagram is intended to be read either centripetally (networks -> neurons -> functions -> behaviours) or centrifugally (behaviours -> functions -> neurons -> networks). Grey lines and grey squares represents unknown features that will eventually be uncovered. Finally, opened circles (white) represent support cells, constituting the vast majority of the central nervous system.

Lines and circles were automatically generated in silico using the free R software (https://cran.r-project.org/) with mathart, ggart and packcircles packages. Other features were drawn by hand. Fine tuning was performed manually in fine.
