Financial support of Optonutrics phase 2 obtained by Clémentine Bosch-Bouju

Clémentine Bosch-Bouju has obtained a financial support for Optonutrics project phase 2 by Idex (100 k€/2 years).

Objective of the Emergence Program: To recognize and support the development of dynamic emerging scientific trends based on a top-level research project and with high potential influence on the scientific field. This program is targeting researchers aiming at being involved in an original, creative approach with a degree of risk-taking in a pivotal consolidation period during their career.

Abstract: Optonutrics is a developing tool in the field of neuroscience, for the remote delivery of nutrients and other bioactive molecules in the brain in vivo, with high control in space, time and concentration. Bordeaux Emergence Phase 1 funding (2018-2021) allowed the development of photoactivable polymersomes that are biocompatible for brain applications. Phase 2 Bordeaux Emergence funding will be used to optimise the use of the photoactivable polymersomes in vivo, (ii) to apply it to basic research, related to Parkinson’s disease pathophysiology, and (iii) to develop it for clinical research. Optonutrics aims to become a powerful tool to decipher basic neurobiological processes and to pave the way to new therapeutics for neurological diseases.
