Sophie Layé was interviewed by journalists from "Enquête de Santé" show (France 5) of 4th april 2018 on "Faut-il avoir peur des graisses ?"

Une partie du reportage « Graisses alimentaires, le retour en grâce » a été réalisé au laboratoire NutriNeuro où Sophie Layé a été interviewée pour les travaux du laboratoire sur l’impact des acides gras sur la santé mentale. Elle a présenté les travaux de recherche menés au sein de son équipe et des données de la littérature, qui montrent que les acides gras polyinsaturés omega 3 ont un rôle primordial dans la physiologie cérébrale, les émotions et la mémoire. Les connaissances actuelles sur les omega 3 indiquent que ces acides gras alimentaires indispensables ont des effets préventifs vis-à-vis des pathologies du cerveau, notamment la dépression et la maladie d’Alzheimer. Les connaissances sur leurs effets curatifs dans les maladies du cerveau font encore l’objet d’intenses recherches, en l’occurrence de par leur rôle dans la neuroinflammation.

D'autres chercheurs du département Alimentation Humaine ont participé à l'émission : Anthony Fardet de l’Unité de Nutrition Humaine y est intervenu pour mettre en avant l’importance de limiter la consommation d’aliments ultra-transformés. Marie-Caroline Michalski du laboratoire CarMeN était invitée sur le plateau du débat qui suivait le reportage pour répondre en direct aux questions des téléspectateurs relayées par Michel Cymes et Marina Carrère d’Encausse.

Plus de 1,5 million de téléspectateurs étaient présents devant France 5 pour regarder le documentaire et le débat ce qui constitue la deuxième meilleure audience historique de cette incontournable émission mensuelle sur la santé.
